Pregnancy Week 39: It's happening...!

Well, my water just broke! I don't know if I'm officially in labor yet or not, but my doctor wants me to go to get checked out at the hospital. So on with the adventure...and on about 1 1/2 hours sleep...

(This picture was taken for 39 weeks--just hours before my water broke--and yes, I was in labor!)

How exciting! I know you guys are going to have such an amazing experience today! It will truly be one of the best days of your lives! Can't wait to hear all about it and to see pictures of the little guy. Grace is so excited that her new little cousin is going to be born today! We are here at home cheering you both on :) Good luck. You are going to do great!!

By the way, I highly recommend letting the nurses take the baby for a little while so you can get some sleep. They will bring him to you when he needs to nurse, but you won't need to worry about crying, dirty diapers, etc, while you are sleeping. I did this with my second baby and wished I had done it with my first! Labor is so exhausting, especially when you were up all night the night before! Hope you manage to get some zzzz's before you get home :)

Thanks, guys! It's funny how I was so alert and able to write a quick entry here and on facebook--then I completely withdrew from technology for quite a while. I had my laptop in the hospital and thought I'd be blogging from there, but I surprised myself and barely wanted to be on the phone even! Weird. But yes, it all went well, even on my little amount of sleep! Kat--thanks for your advice about letting the nurse take the baby at night. I remember your saying that before (I think?) and we started by keeping the baby with us, but I was not sleeping at all, so we did let the nurse take the baby for a while. Of course, I still didn't really sleep much, but we tried!
